......."Delay, deny until they die"

Gone, before any resolution
We estimate that about 200 of us have died (that's 20%), since 2012 when AEA Technology went into administration and was allowed to dump its pension obligations. This number naturally includes some leading members of our campaign and here we pay brief tribute to them. Their loss increases our determination to see fairness prevail.

Derek Whitmell
2024
Derek was a researcher in the Material Developments Division at Harwell and later became Property Services Manager for the Harwell site.
He was one of the founder members of the Campaign Steering Group, and he worked tirelessly throughout his retirement to correct the injustice of the AEAT pension situation. Using Freedom of Information requests, he established that the GAD Note (provided to employees by the Government Actuary to inform their pension choices) was deliberately slanted in favour of a decision to transfer into the AEAT scheme.
Tony Wickett
2022
Tony worked at Winfrith and was an authority on nuclear reactor safety. He was a respected Prospect Union rep for many years.
Joining our campaign in 2015, he helped to formalise it, and he also set up a parallel campaign by Prospect. He assembled the "Dossier" which recorded members’ experiences of trying to get their complaints heard; this was an important source document for the 2022 NAO investigation into the AEAT pension scheme.
Ken Nicholson
2019
Ken was an internationally-recognised climate scientist, working on air quality in urban and national environments. He was based at Harwell and Culham.
He was a prominent voice early in our campaign, and made some of the first complaints. He drafted the question for the first Parliamentary debate on AEAT pensions, proposed by Sir Geoffrey Clifton-Brown MP in 2015.
Sylvia Colegate
2018
Sylvia worked in Human Resources at Risley.
She contributed valuable information about our rights under the terms and conditions of the UKAEA and AEAT pension schemes. She pointed out that the pension protections of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1995 have NOT been repealed.(contrary to government claims).
An early campaigner, Sylvia would undoubtedly have been a Steering Group member had her health permitted.
